I have not been able to find any hams in the grocery stores, not even at COSTCO. I do not like some of the cheaper hams that the stores carry. I want a smoked ham because it will be drier than the ones where they add all that water. I live in Phoenix if you know of a place here. I am also not sure just how good the Honey Baked Hams are.

Honey Baked is pretty good. A little pricey for the product, but overall pretty good. Be sure to follow the reheating directions to the letter or you’ll feel like you’re eating some of the sand out there in the desert!

The Honey Baked Ham company basically invented spiral cut hams. If they weren’t good, nobody else would be making them.

If you want a *dry* ham, though, you should be getting a Virginia (salt-cured) ham instead of a sugar-cured ham.
The leader in Virginia hams is Smithfield. I think you’d want Captain Basse’s Country Ham Cooked, Spiral Sliced
“Fully cooked with the bone in, this tasty country ham comes already spiral sliced, so it’s easy to serve. Glazed with brown sugar and browned over an open flame, it’s perfect for entertaining this holiday season.” They charge $92 for this ham, plus $10 delivery.
If you just want the plain country ham, it’s $75 cooked, and $60 uncooked. It comes in a nice cloth bag. Delivery is $10 for the cooked, $11 for the uncooked ham.
I bought one of their uncooked country hams last fall. It was wonderful, but a lot of work. I think I’ll buy their spiral-cut ham next time around.

Honey Baked Hams are pretty good, but if you want something more upscale try an internet butcher like allenbrothers.com, or heritagefoodsusa.com.
