2010 CONCERT ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCED FOR RIVERFEST

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita Festivals, Inc. (WFI), a non-profit corporation with the purpose of creating diverse community celebrations, announced today its concert line-up for Riverfest 2010, may 7-15.
The 2010 entertainment features artists from across the musical genres – classic rock legends, hot country artists, local musical talent and much, much more!
“This years’ line-up has something for everyone. from well-known bands who’ve been around a long time and have Lantern Festival @ Christchurch The New Zealanders were having their Lantern festival in favor of the Chap Goh May celebration. With the first station in Auckland on the exact day and Christchurch the week after.The festival take place in lovely Victoria Garden Square. The Kiwis were giving their full support to the occasion with the square crowded with people of all ethnics.Lanterns were set up surrounding almost every corner of the square. Its well represent the Chinese red as the symbol of wealth and prosperity. There were performances from students of the University of Canterbury as well as artists from China. These acted as great eye opener for New Zealand on Chinese culture. Tai Chi performance from a local martial art center. Tai Chi and Chi Gong has become a popular recreation in New Zealand among the elderly.A great opportunity to make quick cash for the Asians.Of course, the Malaysians were there too. They were selling even Sarawak Laksa and lots of kuih. All Star Female Group Exhibit Explores the Dark Side of Fairy Tales and Identity
323East presents “Glass, Cinder and Thorns,” featuring over 15 female artists from Detroit and around the globe. The exhibit opens on Saturday March 20 with an artists’ reception from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m., and runs through April 18, 2010. The show is free and open to the public.
Showcasing female artists from around the world including Detroit, Montreal, Portland, New York, France, Australia and elsewhere, “Glass, Cinder and Thorns” explores the dark side of fairy tales and their impact on identity. “As children, our parents would read to us bedtimes stories of little mermaids, sleeping beauties, and little red riding hoods. I just found out there's this smooth techno band called Pantha Du Prince who I'd never heard before, and that has an experimental thing going on in their music that's quite interesting. These guys teamed up with Panda Bear (one of the founding members of Animal Collective) and delivered an awesome track that got remixed by no less than Four Tet, the guy we all love for delivering some of the smoothest, happiest, easy electro recordings out there.
